"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco" (maybe Mark Twain)
I'll sure agree with that from now on: we came back to the hotel stopping at a Starbucks to get a hot tea...
Let's start a little earlier, by the way. The day didn't start well: after having woken up at 6:30 to catch our plane, we found out only at the airport that the flight was canceled. An alternative flight via Oakland got us here in San Francisco and we started wandering around. I admit I came here unprepared and had no idea what to expect: China Town, our first destination, was completely new to me. It might be the biggest in the States, but every other place looked like a souvenir shop to me so I was quite unimpressed. On top of that, my electronic equipment was failing very hard on me! Flashback: before leaving Verona I tried borrowing a camera but couldn't find what I needed, so I resolved to rely on my old compact for pictures and on my phone for videos; Murphy's law at work here, my phone crashed once every two videos and my camera couldn't even turn on. On my personal day it was pouring, my mood was quite bad and who cares about San Francisco!
A couple of hours later, with a ROM update for my phone (thank you, bar WiFi) and a relatively cheap new camera on my hands, the sun was shining again and this windy city looked much better. Ghirardelli square was nice, as Fisherman's Wharf and the piers; we tasted a few Californian wines and I eat oysters and battered calamari. Oh, but the wind! During the afternoon the sun was warming the air a little, after the sunset the wind was unrivaled and the temperature quickly dropped to, as I read later, 16 windy Celsius degrees, thus suggesting the hot tea I said at the beginning.
